Representative David Harris (R-Arlington Heights) attended the unearthing of Mount Prospect’s Time Capsule, one of the kickoff events for Mount Prospect’s 2017 Centennial Celebration which starts in February of 2017.

The unearthing event started with a brief ceremony with Mayor Arlene Jurasek. Pipe View America of Schaumburg retrieved the time capsule from the place where it was buried in May 1993. Retried Mayor Gerald “Skip” Farley then read a letter that he wrote 25 years ago to the current residents of the Village. The letter was one of the items buried in the capsule.

Due to the delicate nature of the items contained within the time capsule, it will only be opened under archival conditions. The items are expected to be displayed once again during Mount Prospect's Centennial Year of 2017 at the Mount Prospect Public Library and/or the Mount Prospect Historical Society.
